When the daily ups and downs of dating Taylor Swift become tiresome, what better way to harness your celebrity power than offering your support to the Northampton branch of counter-terrorism group by way of a tighty-whitey vest? Such a natural move for Tom.
We're not sure exactly where Prevent were going with this, but the group used their Twitter account to doctor a picture of Tom so it appeared he was wearing an 'I ♥ Prevent' top. That said, it doesn't really look like that at all, all you can see is 'I ♥ P' and even that doesn't look convincing.
The tweet was Photoshopped to resemble a retweet from the fan account 'Taylor Swift News' where the picture showed Tom wearing that 'I ♥ TS' vest '
Cringingly, the 'I ♥ Prevent' was posted along with the hashtag #tomsaidnotobondbecausepreventdontspy. Catchy stuff.
Prevent is the Government's scheme to stop radicalisation, which a lot of people have criticised for encouraging people to spy on and report friends and family.
Internal emails show that one member of the police force called the tweet "irresponsible in the extreme", and beyond embarrassing.
It isn't even the first time they've misattributed quotes about their strategy to famous, and random, figures:
Whoever runs their social media might not want to include these in their portfolio. And stay away from #followfriday.
