A Movie About Obama's College Years Is Coming To Netflix, And It Sounds Pretty Good

Barry follows the President's time at Columbia

Ever wonder what moments paved the way for Obama's rise to the White House or what he got up to in his days as a young visionary at college?

Well Netflix have answered your prayers by buying Barry, a biopic based on President Obama's time at Columbia university. The rights for the film, directed by Vikram Gandhi, went for a reported $4.5 million.

Set in the 1980s, Barry features a 20 year old Obama (Devon Tyrell) having just transferred to Columbia tackling issues of race, class identity in New York. The film also features Obama's then girlfriend, not Michelle but a woman named Charlotte whose family he tries to impress.

The biopic has had positive reviews, earning it an impressive 100 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes. It has no release date as of yet but maybe the laid back president may give a new meaning to Netflix and Chill when it does become available.

What do you think?

In order to hide his Polio from the public, Franklin D. Roosevelt arrived in New York via a secret extension of Grand Central Terminal underneath the Waldorf Astoria hotel. His abandoned train car—which is still there today—transported the president and his limousine directly up into the hotel's garage so he could come and go unnoticed.
