Google's first own-brand smartphone was supposed to be unveiled in a whirl of fanfare and hype tomorrow, but some unlucky (or sneaky) soul over at the Carphone Warehouse has managed to leak the pictures a day early.

After conquering the software market with its Android operating system, Google's new Pixel phone is an obvious challenge to the all-powerful Apple and Samsung flagships and, according to retailer listings that have since been removed, will have 32GB or 128GB of storage, 4GB of RAM, Qualcomm's latest 821 processor, AMOLED screens, fingerprint scanners, an eight-megapixel selfie camera and a 12-megapixel camera on the back with optical image stabilisation.
