America in 150 weekends (and 744 pages)

Taschen make beautiful, strokeable books (seriously, try it) and this latest travel compendium is no exception. A collaboration with The New York Times it features the best of the paper's "36 Hours" columns, which provide iteineries for weekends in some of America's furtherest flung corners, as well as its sprawling cities.

OK, you might not be going to the States for a weekend, but the extensive tips about where to eat, stay, drink, and what to do in between, at 150 North American locations can be just as useful on a longer roadtrip. If you're more of a shorthaul type, the European version is due next year. If you're a diehard homebody, just enjoy the beautiful illustrated and designed pages from your coffee table.
