How do Trump's most dedicated supporters respond to the huge influx of sexual assault allegations surrounding their candidate? Oh, just by declaring that women should lose their right to vote.
#RepealThe19th trended on Facebook Thursday. Initially, the hashtag was created by Donald Trump supporters when Nate Silver published an electoral map on FiveThirtyEight showing that Trump would win the election if only men voted.
Despite considering that perhaps this map shows how little the Republican party benefits women, or pondering the Republican party consists of mainly men, Trump supporters took this as a new strategy for their flailing candidate—especially since the map of only female voters showed a clear victory for Hillary.
In an act of true desperation and deplorableness, they called for the 19th amendment to be revoked using the hashtag #RepealThe19th. In other words, Trumpeters want to undo feminist work made almost a century ago and take away women's rights to vote. Enough people—because it's worth highlighting again—that it trended on Facebook.
Of course, there were plenty of people who used the hashtag to point out the pure ridiculousness of the notion, but the fact that we need to be having this conversation in 2016 just proves how much of a dumpster fire this election truly is. 25 days, folks.
