Gary Lineker has been pulled into the midst of a migrant row, where The Sun have called for his head for daring to express an opinion about a matter of human compassion.
The ex-England footballer and BBC commentator tweeted his revulsion at some of the racist dialogue around the migrant children brought to the UK from Calais.
Since the EU referendum the paper has veered so extremely to the right it is in danger of overturning. The demand that the teeth of migrant children were checked to verify their age with the howlingly cringe headline "Give us the tooth" says it all.
Lineker was criticised by The Sun for "breaching the guidelines of the BBC's impartiality"and branded a "leftie luvvie." Burn.
Lineker seemed less than concerned about the status of his job, spending this morning trolling people who called for his sacking - a view echoed by a BBC spokesman who told The Sun, "Gary is a freelance broadcaster and this is a personal Twitter account."
He also shut down pathetic criticism of him putting it into perspective
As one magazine pointed out, the irony of The Sun wanting someone sacked for 'peddling lies' almost belies belief.
Remember, a man who presents Match Of The Day in his underwear knows no fear.
