If the wild popularity of Nintendo's recently released Nes Classic has taught us anything, it's that retro gaming is back with an 8-bit bang.
So it was inevitable that Mark Zuckerberg would jump on the bandwagon sooner rather than later. Facebook have constantly tried to prove themselves as a gaming platform, as anyone who's spent an afternoon deleting Farmville players out of their lives will attest.
But unlike with their needy agriculture phase, we're actually excited about this one.
It's called Instant Games, the tab for which is located underneath the typing bar in Messenger. You get a choice of 17 nostalgic games of yore, including Pac-Man and Space Invaders, and the chance to play against one or a number of mates.
It's not just retro titles though. Words with Friends makes an appearance, as does EverWing.
Bad news, though: you'll need iOS 8 to play – and we all know how that can end.
