Jose Mourinho Wants To Spend Spend £60million On Kyle Walker And Danny Rose

According to 'football rumours', which are always, always true

You know that thing in Football Manager when you pick a club with an insane budget, identify a problem area in your squad and go and make silly bids on the best two players available on the off chance it comes off?

Well if rumours are the believed then Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho – never a man to knowingly waste time developing his youth squad or polishing rough diamonds from lesser leagues – is poised to try just that by making a £60million double swoop (it's always a 'swoop') for Tottenham full-backs Kyle Walker and Danny Rose.

The Special(ish) One has had a torrid time on both sides of his defence this season, with Antonio Valencia playing at right-back despite not being a right-back and Luke Shaw, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian being all failing to impress at left-back despite being, well, left-backs.

So, according to The Sun – never a paper to knowingly report an untrue transfer rumour – Jose's solution is to raid (it's always a 'raid') his top four rivals for what is widely considered to be the best full-back pairing in the league.

The fact they've both signed new contracts recently at White Hart Lane suggest getting even one the players - let alone both - will be a struggle, but then in football who knows?

If Jose fails he could always try an alternative Football Manager move by creating a second player, making them Tottenham manager, approving bids of £1,000 and then retiring once the deal has gone through. Not that we've ever done that, of course.
