In news that will make your sustained refusal to ditch bike stabilisers even more embarrassing, a video has emerged of American children riding an actual 8ft alligator.
Apparently, the practice is commonplace in the States at themed kids' parties. They act as the terrifying equivalent to those travelling wildlife parties we have over here, where guys dressed as Steve Irwin drag massive snail gooch across your hand.
The Mail Online reports that the footage, shot during one of Chicago-based Jim Nesci's 'Cold Blooded Creatures' events, features young kids riding Bubba the alligator.
The event promises to promote 'conservation through education', but has found controversy along the way.
Beyond the fact that it's a dangerous alligator with a penchant for swallowing living beings, animal campaigners believe that the practice is cruel on the alligator. Their backs are not, after all, evolutionarily designed to carry the weight of a child.
We'll stick with the massive snails, thanks.
