Last night, in the final hurrah of the outgoing President, Obama honoured his VP Joe Biden, who he referred to as his brother. In a twist of events, he presented his second-in-command with the highest medal of civilian honour, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Determined to have us weeping on a daily basis, Obama bestowed the honour "with an additional level of veneration" – making Biden the fourth person in history to receive the award alongside Pope John Paul II, President Ronald Reagan, and former Secretary of State Colin Powell. Unsurprisingly there wasn't a dry eye in the house, or on the internet.
He also added that the occasion "also gives the Internet one last chance to talk about our bromance."
Oh Barack, you know us so well
