Arnold Schwarzenegger has a simple theory as to why Donald Trump keeps taking to his safe place of Twitter to criticise him. The US president is clearly in love with.
The actor and politician was appearing on The Michael Smerconish Program when he was asked why Trump is "so fixated" on him.
"Why does he keep talking about you on his Twitter feed?" presenter Smerconish enquired.
"I think he's in love with me," Schwarzenegger delivered straight-faced.
When asked if that's what he really thought, the Aftermath star replied: "Yeah, I think so."
The former Celebrity Apprentice hosts have been feuding since Trump told the audience at the National Prayer Breakfast - the perfect setting, obviously - to 'pray' for Schwarzenegger and his supposed fledgling ratings on the NBC series.
"They hired a big, big movie star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, to take my place, and we know how that turned out. The ratings went right down the tubes. It's been a total disaster. And Mark [Burnett - producer] will never, ever bet against Trump again, and I want to just pray for Arnold, if we can, for those ratings," he was quoted as saying (via CNBC).
Schwarzenegger hit back by suggesting they trade jobs so that "people can finally sleep comfortably again", before announcing he was quitting the reality TV show over its "baggage" i.e Trump.
The US president then responded on Twitter by claiming the actor had been fired because of his "pathetic" ratings.
"Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't voluntarily leaving the Apprentice, he was fired by his bad (pathetic) ratings, not by me. Sad end to great show."
Expect POTUS to respond any second now, rather than, y'know, run his country.
