Described by Napoleon as "the most beautiful place in England", south Cornwall's thousand year-old Port Eliot estate has long been one of England's best concealed treasures.
Until now. This month sees the launch of the ninth annual Port Eliot festival, and as seasoned Summer revellers, we can safely say that this is the future of festival-ing.
With readings (yes, readings) and talks from the likes of Hanef Kureishi, Sam Baine and Jesse Armstrong of Peep Show and Marcel Theroux; music from British Sea Power, Ed Harcourt and Sea of Bees; fashion exhibitions from David Sims and Stephen Jones; food from Thomasina Myers and Nicki Segnit and not to mention a night of rockin' blues from West london club legend Gaz Mayall, it's the top of our festival agenda this summer.
Port Eliot is on from 21-24 July in St Germans, Cornwall. For tickets visit www.porteliotfestival.com
