Former Esquire cover star and potential Bond Tom Hardy has confirmed his reappearance in BBC series Peaky Blinders.

The 39-year-old was photographed arriving on the 1920s set just after 8pm on Tuesday, in costume as the nefarious Alfie Solomons. The images confirm what series creator Steven Knight said earlier this year on Hardy returning: "Of course [he'll be back] – we can't do it without Alfie," he said."

The people of Liverpool were very cool about the Oscar-nominated actor popping up in town, naturally.

Hardy's co-star, Cillian Murphy, was also photographed in costume running around streets whilst wielding a pistol playing Tommy Shelby. He was filming in the Toxteth area of Liverpool where the streets have been given a makeover to become the city as it was in the 1920s, complete with old advertising boards, vintage cars, and the removal of yellow street lines.

The fourth season is due on the BBC and Netflix in October of this year. Try to contain yourself until then.
