Copyrighting a joke might sound bizarre but in the competitive world of stand-up comedy, joke piracy is actually a big problem.
Amy Schumer, the comedian famous for her starring role in Trainwreck, has awkwardly been accused of just that, with a clip that compares a joke this year with the same joke Zach Galifianakis made in 2013 about being 'well read'.
The clip itself looks pretty innocent and with the endless memes circulated online, that joke could have come from anywhere. But the clip also shows her using very similar material to other comedians like Louis CK and Dave Attell. To make matters worse the video also shows instances where she has pointed out or praised the specific comedians' jokes.
It follows another compilation from earlier this year where she is accused of 'parallel thinking' when seemingly reusing other comedians' material.
