If you thought Brexit or Trump were the biggest news stories of last year, WRONG. That was the fairytale romance between English thespian Tom Hiddleston and American pop singer Taylor Swift and the way it ripped the heart out of her former lover Scottish DJ Calvin Harris. The history books will confirm this, in good time.
During those turbulent times, one ally he made was Swift-hater Katy Perry, whose long battle with Tay began when Perry allegedly stole Swift's backing dancer and she, in retaliation, wrote the absolute banger Bad Blood.
Up to speed? Good.
On Monday, Perry gave a not so subtle indication that she won't be putting a 'f**k Taylor Swift' track on her forthcoming album, but didn't comment mention the fact she is very much releasing a song with Swift's ex. The temptation to make it about their shared nemeses must have been sizeable.
The duet will feature on Harris's new album Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 which is released 30 June. We can already hear the barely-veiled metaphors about double-crossing before the inevitable 'anthemic beat' chorus. As for the music video? Probably expect some bikini-clad flirting in that too judging by the cover art.
Like we said. Big story.
