As well as banging in goals, eating lots of pasta and repeating the word "gaffer" 10,000 times in front of the pristine bathroom mirror of a lonely rented apartment every afternoon, Premier League footballers like to dabble with a bit of social media... but it isn't without its potential pitfalls.

Taking to Instagram after Crystal Palace's 4-0 hammering of Hull City (R.I.P, enjoy Burton away, boys), the Belgian striker - or more likely a Palace social media intern - wrote beneath a photo of Benteke in action: "Great win today, a goal and another year [in the] Premier League! Thanks for the amazing support during the match!"

The problem was, he began the whole post with: "Caption:" - suggesting, by our deductions, a bit of copy and paste foul play.

The post was quickly amended, but not before fans managed to capture a f**k up that drew comparisons to Victor Anichebe's infamous Twitter howler last year.

Really, what fans want to see is a bit of candour, unvarnished by press departments, managers and social media teams.

What they really want to see is Twitter God Wayne Rooney, circa 2011...
