EA Is Bringing Back 'Need For Speed' Because It's What The People Want

It took you long enough, guys

Obviously clocking onto the fact that people are really, really into The Fast and The Furious right now, EA is reviving Need for Speed for the modern era and the first trailer looks very promising.

Titled Need for Speed: Payback, the 2017 iteration will allow players to drive as three different characters — Tyler, the Racer; Mac, the Showman; and Jess, the Wheelman — who team up to get revenge on The House, a cartel that runs the criminal underworld of the fictional city of Fortune Valley.

Just ignore all the names, the rest of it sounds good...we swear.

EA promises "intense heist missions, high stakes car battles, epic cop pursuits and jaw dropping set pieces." And, most importantly Payback also has a renewed focus on car customisation that EA says will let players "truly craft a personalised and unique ride."

Because Need for Speed Underground is still the king of the franchise and that's mostly down to you being able to do whatever you want to your car.

Watch the trailer below, and look out for the game on Xbox One, PS4, and PC as of 10 November.
