Being a football kit designer must be a thankless job.
Most fans will say that all they want 70s-esque simplicity: the colours, the badge, and not much else if you can help it (maybe one of those totally unnecessary 90s draw-string necks, but that's being greedy).
And over the past decade most brands have yielded to this trend. But the problem with minimalistic kits is that they inevitable look the same, year after penny-swindling year, meaning that no sane supporter would actually bother to update.
Some brands have gone bravely off-piste with their designs, to the fury of dads across the land. No doubt they'll be bang on trend in thirty years' time, but for now they almost always inspire humiliation, regret and a reversal to type.
So what of Manchester United's alleged new kit, which has been leaked by footyheadlines.com?
Well: it's quite nice. It's a henley sponsored by Adidas. Nothing more, nothing less.
As you were.
