When you think about it, kickboxing is a ridiculous, albeit entertaining, sport: two men in peak condition enter a ring and, within reason, are then allowed to unleash whatever combination of fist, feet, knee or elbow that they see fit in order to cause maximum damage. Boxing is brutal, kickboxing more so.

During a super middleweight bout in Paris at the weekend, Dutch-Surinamese fighter, Murthel "The Predator" Groenhart, demonstrated said brutality by knocking out his Armenian opponent, Harut Grigorian, with a ferocious (but legal) knockout punch when his back was turned. The 28-year-old inexplicably ignored the 'protect yourself at all times' rule that is sacrosanct inside the ring.

With his opponent unconscious, blood pouring from his head onto the canvas, Groenhart turns to celebrate, which is when the real chaos ensues...

While it was first believed that the two men who stormed into the ring were members of Grigorian's corner, it turns out they were fans who totally lost it.
