He may be out of Wimbeldon, but Andy Murray had at least one moment of glory yesterday.
The Scottish tennis ace was beaten by American Sam Querrey after suffering an injury, and he sat down to talk about his opponent in the post-match conference.
"Andy, Sam is the first American player to reach the semi-final of a Slam since 2009...," a reporter asked.
To which Murray replied, his moody expression betraying the giddiness he probably felt about the number of retweets he was about to receive from woke Twitter:
"Male player," Murray replied.
"I beg your pardon?," the journalist responded.
"Male player," Murray repeated.
The reporter had of course forgotten Serena and Venus Williams, Coco Vandeweghe and Madison Keys have all reached Grand Slam semi-finals since 2009.
