If you wanted to compile evidence for future generations to understand how strange 2017 was, it wouldn't be Trump in the White House – it would be the fact Netflix are making films about severed penis characters based on vegetable emojis.
Even more bizarre is the fact that Ben Stiller is on board to produce the comedy, as is Jake Szymanski from Funny or Die who will direct the film, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The plotline given so far is that: "When a teenager accidently cuts off his penis during a camping trip, he and his friends rush to save the appendage before it's too late."
The film may have to be renamed The Aubergine Emoji for us civilised Brits who don't know what an eggplant is, but the lack of alliteration doesn't make it sound a bit less fun.
Clearly studios are so confident of the desire to see emojis on the big screen they aren't even waiting for the release later this month of the The Emoji Movie, with Patrick Stewart playing the poo emoji.
