Alex Turner has got a new goatee - and the internet is not OK with it.

The Arctic Monkey's frontman was spotted behind said beard at the Spotify-hosted listening party for Lana Del Rey's new album, Lust for Life, at No Vacancy in West Hollywood over the weekend.

Most people, when they grow a beard, look like they've actually grown a beard. Not Alex. You might say his looks more like something you'd buy at a joke shop to enhance the evil magician costume you'd cobbled together for your girlfriend's friend's Halloween party. You're not sure how seriously to take it, so you buy a few bits - a cape, a wand, a stick-on beard - that you can easily tear off and surreptitiously discard when you realise no-one's really made the effort either.

Maybe it's not his fault. Maybe he was forced into it by an overbearing stylist. Maybe it was a joke. Maybe he indeed had a Witches and Wizards fancy-dress party engagement later that night. Or maybe it was simply an attempt to channel his inner Mr Tumnus (see below) before he galloped away to Narnia.

This is not to say he looks the worst anyone could ever look with a beard, just that he's no longer the curiously ageless beauty for which he is so famed and loved and (by some) despised the world over.
