Chris Hemsworth is up for a female Bond in the form of Charlize Theron, but Halle Berry doesn't think you can change the iconic 007 to a woman.

Responding to Hemsworth's suggestion that Theron would make a brilliant Bond, Berry told ET: "I want [women] to be tough but I don't know if Bond should be a woman.

"I mean, that series is steeped in history, you know Ian Fleming's stories. I don't think you can change Bond to a woman.

Thor star Hemsworth had put forward his former Snow White and the Huntsman co-star for Daniel Craig's role, telling W magazine: "She [Theron] embodies every sort of ounce of strength and nobility and dignity and integrity that that character should have.

"She's smart as hell. She's physically able. I worked with her on Snow White and the Huntsman. Watching her in those fight scenes, doing it in high heels, by the way, and an eight foot long gown was even more impressive."

The Oscar-winning actress currently stars as an undercover MI6 agent in new action thriller Atomic Blonde.

She responded by saying Hemsworth's comments were very "sweet and generous" (via ET.)

Meanwhile, Berry was attending the premiere for her thriller Kidnap, in which she plays a mother who experiences the horror of her son being abducted. She embarks on an unrelenting mission trailing the kidnappers to save her child.
