One of those companies that has so much money, sway and deeply-engrained brand loyalty that they can pretty much do whatever they please, reports suggest that Apple's next big iPhone innovation might have to be purchased separately.
With wireless charging being a mainstay in the iPhone 8 rumour cycle, it looks like the technology is all-but-confirmed, after images leaked recently on Chinese social media, as reported by Macrumours.
While it's encouraging that Apple is finally catching up with the likes of Samsung - with wireless charging being available on its phones for years now - it looks like you'll need to pay extra for the privilege. That's according to Apple expert John Gruber, who also claims that the technology might not be ready until after the launch of the phone.
Earlier this year Robert Hwang, chief executive of Apple supply chain company Wistron, revealed the iPhone 8 will come with wireless charging and waterproofing.
"New features like waterproof and wireless charging now require some different testing, and waterproof function will alter the assembly process a bit," he said.
Watch this space... and your bank balance when you have to pay £65 for a wireless charger.
We bet it'll look really nice, though.
