What we're listening to - Discodeine

Jarvis Cocker has teamed up with Parisian duo Discodeine for their new single “Synchronized”.

To the untrained ear disco and Jarvis Cocker are not obvious bedfellows, but if Synchronized is anything to go by, it seems to work.

Discodeine is the love child of music producers Pilooski, (who brought us the brilliant re-edit of Frankie Valli’s “Beggin”) and Pentile (of Octet and France Copland fame.) The pair’s upbeat sounds combine with Cocker’s husky tones effortlessly for this intense club track.

It isn’t the only team-up on Discodeine’s self-titled album, which sees further collaborative efforts with Matias Aguayo and Baxter Dury.

The album, much like the single, is a mix of Chicago house, Disco and Krautrock, or, in layman’s terms, a delight for the ears.

"Synchronized" is out now and Discodeine is out 14th February.
