A character usually associated with flagrant displays of wealth and relentless boasts about his harem of Instagram model groupies, Dan Bilzerian was last night caught up in the chaos of the Mandalay Bay shooting in Las Vegas, resulting in the poker player and social media tycoon filming himself fleeing from the scene after seeing a girl "get shot in the head."

More than 20 people have been killed and over 100 injured after a gunman opened fire at a country music festival at the casino and hotel in the Las Vegas strip, with reports suggesting the shooter targeted the Route 91 Harvest country music festival from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay resort.

Bilzerian was in attendance at the concert and filmed himself fleeing the scene saying,"I have to go grab a gun, just heading back. So crazy. Some kind of mass shooting, some guy with a heavy-calibre weapon."

Watch Bilzerian describe the scene below. The video is fairly distressing.

Social media is currently speculating that Bilzerian did indeed return to assist at the scene, although this remains unconfirmed by police.

According to The Los Angeles Times, police claim the suspect, a Las Vegas resident whose name was not immediately released, was killed after a SWAT team burst into the hotel room from which he was firing at the crowd.

"Right now we believe it's a solo act, a lone wolf attacker," Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sheriff Joe Lombardo said. "We are pretty confident there is no longer a threat."

Authorities said the gunman appeared to have begun firing at 10:08 p.m. from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel toward the concert venue across the street.

Twitter user Bear Degidio has since posted an image from a news broadcast of Bilzerian helping out first responders at the scene.
