Can you blame him?

By all accounts, Eden Hazard is a nice man with very blue eyes who lives in Surrey, does his shopping in Waitrose and has never once had a ridiculous footballer haircut. But Chelsea are Chelsea (best team in the league or invisible) and Real Madrid are, well, Real Madrid are Real Madrid.

According to fresh reports from The Times, the 26-year-old winger has turned down a £300,000 a week contract, which would make him the Premier League's highest paid player, due to the increased interest from European football's biggest club.

Real are said to be ready to cut their losses on Gareth Bale and his biscuit ligaments, which could lead to Hazard becoming their next big Galactico signing.

Just to add to Chelsea's player pressures, the same report suggests that Hazard's Chelsea and Belgium teammate Thibaut Courtois is also high up on the Madrid wishlist, despite a previous stint at their cross-city rivals Atletico.

Speaking after his side's 3-1 win against Newcastle at the weekend, Antonio Conte addressed the rumours, saying: "The club knows very well the importance of these two players, I think these two players are very happy to play for this club.

"It is normal during the season to have the contact between the player – or the agent of the player – and the club. I hope that at the end, Thibaut will sign his contract."

But what about Hazard, Antonio?

If you see him growing out his hair for a man bun, then you know the rumours are true.
