What we're listening to - James Blake

Get used to hearing James Blake’s name. Tipped to be next year’s big thing and an early favourite for the mercury prize, the 21-year-old beat junkie is best known for his reverb-heavy instrumentals, which once could only be heard pumping out of his bedroom, but are now the musical fodder for many an electro aficionado.

Blake’s latest release – a cover of Feist’s “Limit To Your love”, conceals a troubled, tender vocal line, with big-time written all over it. Articulately supported by a haunting piano and some reticent jazz rhythms, the cover confirms Blake as an exciting new British talent.

With two 2010 EP’s under his belt, and a full-length debut album appearing in 2011 great things are on the horizon for Mr Blake, You heard it here first
