What we're listening to - Gold Panda

When we dragged our tired and ragged selves down to a "secret" gig held in Soho institution Madame JoJo's earlier this week we didn't know, nor much care, what to expect from the  headline act, Gold Panda.

The resulting hours of swirling, dub-infused folktronika were enough to eradicate any feelings of negativity, indeed we were made to feel ashamed of our previous sullenness. Offering a suped-up take on the plastic sounds of Four Tet, Essex boy Panda - hunched over the decks like a man posessed - produced a plethora of beats, bangs, whistles and swoops, the likes of which Keiran Hebden would be proud.

Luckily for us, Gold Panda (known as Derwin to his folks) is on the brink of releasing his debut album Lucky Shiner (due in October), the latest single from which, "Snow & Taxis", has got our senses all a-tingle.
