Time to pick up a Penguin

To celebrate a new partnership with (RED), the global campaign to eliminate Aids from Africa, Penguin’s design team has commissioned eye-catching new artwork for eight titles in the Penguin Classics series.

Penguin Art Director Jim Stoddart says: “These beautiful and eye-catching designs break from the conventional black to red, and instead of using paintings and photographs, words appear as images.” Three of the eight covers were developed in-house at Penguin Press, with the other covers created by FUEL, Nathan Burton, Studio Frith, Grey318, and Non-Format.

The publishing house has stated it will contribute 50 per cent of the profits from these editions to the Global Fund which invests in HIV and Aids programs in Africa. To date, (RED) partners have contributed over $140 million to this fund, reaching more than 5 million people with testing, treatment and support programs.
