Tis the season you might need to learn this life skill - you never know when it might come in handy. Here's how:
Look the part. Dress like you should be in there, and in the same style as the other revellers. In London’s West End, think one part Sloane Ranger to two parts Eurotrash. If you’re not great-looking yourself, have someone with you who is.
Stay calm and confident. Walk straight up to the velvet rope mid-conversation with your beautiful companion as others are going in. Walk through like you’ve been there all night, every night for the past six months.
Get your story straight. If you get stopped, be polite, make your reason for going in sound convincing and try not to namedrop. Be prepared to wait, your patience will be noted.
If all else fails, grab a record bag. As a last resort, throw on a hoodie and pretend to be the DJ for the night. Chances are the security will have no idea who is playing and will wave you through.
