The Esquire gift list No 1

It being the first day of December, we'll be running a regular run of present suggestions from now until Christmas - both to buy other people, and to put on your own wishlist as well. Like a practical advent calendar but without the chocolate.

First up is the book subtitled ‘An unofficial record of a year’s most ownable things’, Einstein's Watch, which lists and details over 100 desirable objects that have been bought or advertised for sale in 2009. Fenwick and Husselby take you through the year’s eclectic objects, ranging from Gandhi’s glasses right up to Luke Skywalker’s lightsabre, it's an intriguing take on the year just gone. £9.99, www.amazon.co.uk
