Toro Y Moi Covers David Brent’s ‘Slough’

Slough’s most famous fan has been enjoying a bit of a revival on YouTube recently, thanks to his series of ‘Learn Guitar With David Brent’ tutorials.

So much so that Ricky Gervais says he’s been getting "ridiculous offers" from record companies to do an album. "Where were these people when I was trying to be a real popstar?" he protested. "And starving."

The tale took an unexpected twist last night when fashionable Pitchfork-endorsed US ‘chillwave’ recording artist Toro Y Moi produced a cover of Brent’s recent track ‘Slough’ (below).

Done straight with loads of rumbling bass and whooshy keyboard effects, it’s a delight.

"And you know just where you’re heading/ It’s equidistant/ ‘tween London and Reading."
