Of course, for the modern and refined man, the prospect of being charged by a brown bear would prove terrifying: less fight or flight, more get-your-gangly-ass-outta-there-or-die.
But when a bear approached 80-year-old Russian shepherd Yusuf Alchagirov in his raspberry field, he didn't back down. The octogenarian – The Guardian reports – hit that grizzly bastard with a flurry of kicks and headbutts, knocking the beast off balance. Damn.
Understandably a little miffed, the bear proceeded to throw the shepard off a cliff – a fall which Alchagirov survived.
"I got off easy," the unflappable badass said. "It would have killed me if I'd chickened out."
As you can see below, the feat shoots Alchagirov nearly to the top of our official power rankings – a hard-fought second behind Kenyan peasant farmer, Daniel M'Mburugu.
Unfortunately, Alchagirov's heroics weren't caught on tape – this dramatization will have to do, for now.
