The Book of Bad Girls

Kate Moss and friends are the stand-out stars of photographer Bryan Adams’ (yes, him) new monograph.

You may already be aware that Canadian rocker Bryan Adams is no longer sporting double-denim and serenading Kevin Costner from a sun-dappled forest clearing, and that he has in fact been a very fine photographer for many years now, shooting for many magazines, including yours truly.

A new book out in autumn collects together the photographic fruits of the last 15 or so years (and if we’ve just broken your heart, you’ll be pleased to know that he still sometimes plays that old six string, see bryanadams.com for tour dates).

It features portraits of all kinds of wrinkly luminaries and alabaster beauties, from Mick Jagger and Mickey Rourke to Karen Elson and Tilda Swinton, but we can’t help noticing that when it comes to women, Adams seems to like them at the decidedly less squeaky end of the moral spectrum.

There’s Kate Moss writhing in hosiery, Pink showing off a pierced nipple and Lana del Rey smooching with her own reflection.

And, of course, no bad girl portfolio would be complete without a certain flame-haired, court-frequenting starlet, showing her feelings about California’s anti-smoking laws (see above).
