La Typographie! The Tour Goes Graphic

Whether you're following the Tour de France or not – these brilliant prints are well worth your consideration.

The Tour de France has forever dished out perfectly sufficient eye candy (see: sun-kissed meadows, grand lakes, the soul-crushing Pyrenees). Now, the world’s greatest bike race goes typographic.

The prints are the handiwork of illustrator and digital artist Neil Stevens, who began producing original designs during 2011's race.

To celebrate the Tour's 100th anniversary, Stevens has crafted graphics marking 12 stages from each decade of the tour, and portraits of Tour legends, present and past.

"The typographic prints are inspired by bauhaus prints, posters and book covers originally, and have now morphed into a style of their own that grabs inspiration from all numerous graphic movements," Stevens told Esquire.

You may notice a conspicuous absence in Stevens’ rather excellent legends collection. Then again, you may notice a conspicuous absence of Tour winners between 1999 and 2005. Damn.
