Will Ferrell made a surprise appearance in a Brazillian bar to pledge his support to the U.S World Cup effort.
In a bizarre ceremony involving Teddy “Goalsevelt” leading the crowd in a chant of “I believe that we will win” Ferrell promised to do whatever it takes to lead the U.S team to victory against Germany today.
Introduced by Suni Gulati, the President of the U.S Soccer Federation, as a new player drafted in to bolster the team, Ferrell took to the stage dressed in America’s second strip and led the crowd in a chant of “U.S.A, U.S.A.”
Ferrell was honest about his goal-scoring ability (“I’m not gonna lie to you, I’m not in the best shape. I’m not in soccer shape right now”) but promised he would follow Suarez’ lead if it came to it (“I will bite every German player if I have to”).
We’ll find out just how many Germans Ferrell is forced to bite when Jürgen Klinsmann’s team line up against Philipp Lahm’s men this afternoon.
U.S.A Vs Germany is on today at 5pm on BBC1.
