| More than half of British men (56%) think they’re good – or very good – in bed, with Londoners the most likely to say so (65%), though they were also the biggest masturbators (which the rest of the country has known for a while).

| As far as the popularity of sexual positions go, missionary has given way to the cowgirl (31%), meaning British men are now very kindly allowing their partners to do more of the graft.

| One in four British men have even tried bondage for the first time in the last 12 months, reports Esquire, suggesting it’s not only female Kindle owners who are surreptitiously flicking through 50 Shades.

| The British man is now thinking outside the bedroom: 54% of men have had sex in a public space.

| Almost a quarter of British men (23%) admitted to Esquire that they’d received oral sex while driving, bringing a whole new meaning to the term “hard shoulder”.

| Before you consider crashing at a mate’s after a heavy night, bear in mind that 38% of men admitted that the last place they’d had sex other than their bed was on the living room sofa. That Travelodge doesn’t seem like such a bad option now, does it?

| British men are also very happy to self-service – more than one in five British men (21%) masturbate at least once a day, while half of British men (50%) watch porn at least once a week. One in four British men watch it every day. Hooray for fibre-optic broadband.

| Almost one in five British men (18 per cent) admitted to letting the side down and cheating on their partner. Our dream woman?  Kylie Minogue, with Cheryl Cole in second place.

| Size isn’t everything: the most popular breast shape among British men is “pointy and pert” (33 per cent), while “huge” polled only 17 per cent.

More than a third of British men (35 per cent) have texted or emailed a sexually suggestive image of themselves to someone else (yes, "accidentally" sending one to your mother-in-law does count).
