What with gossip websites, reality television, social media and Instagram, we have so much access to celebrities these days that, by rights, we should be getting fed up of them. In fact, the opposite is true and our craving for a glimpse behind the curtain is stronger than ever.
Photographer Sarah Dunn has taken this idea of the behind-the-scenes celebrity photograph one step further. During her career as a professional photographer Dunn has captured images of some of the biggest names in Hollywood, from Tom Cruise to almost the entire cast of the Harry Potter series.
In a new exhibition titled "Wide Eyed" Dunn shares for the first time some of her candid, behind the scenes images from the last 12 years of magazine shoots, often capturing her subjects relaxed and unposed.
Shot on a Japanese Widelux camera, the exhibition includes panoramic and candid shots of actors including Skyfall's Bérénice Marlohe relaxing between shoots to the Lord Of The Rings hobbits sharing a bottle of whisky.
"I have always been a fan of behind the scenes imagery, artists like Eve Arnold, William Claxton and Brigitte Lacombe were firm favourites," Dunn explains. "Inspired by these photographers I started shooting my own BTS images with an old contax camera, because I was working with so many actors I thought it would be fun to go cinematic. The widelux frame is similar to cinemascope and has a moving lens so I could kill two passions in one fell swoop, photography and film-making."
