The Best Tracks Of 2014

We’ve compiled our ultimate 2014 playlist for your listening pleasure, from breakout sensations to pop gems that never left our office speakers

It’s been an odd year for music. Great albums were released and struggled all year to go platinum, then out of nowhere Taylor Swift achieved the feat with 1989 in October, while simultaneously declaring she was pulling her music from Spotify.

In the run-up to this we've had breakouts in the form of Royal Blood and Esquire favourite FKA Twigs, a grown-up return from Jamie T and a nation-spanning epic from Foo Fighters.

In amongst this action Pharrell Williams remained happy as he continued his dominance with a controversy-courting anime video for 'It Girl', Flyte came from nowhere and had hip-hop/rock aficionado Zane Lowe admitting they’re not too shabby for a pop group, and Damon Albarn released his first proper solo album, leaving us all feeling a tad melancholy.

Lucky then that the likes of Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea and Jessie Ware were on hand with slices of shameless pop to cheer us up over the office sound system.
