Lewis Hamilton mightm have been nominated for the honour of Sports Personality of the Year last night, but Twitter is far more concerned with what on earth the F1 driver was wearing.
The sportsman was unable to attend the BBC ceremony in Belfast, but appeared via video link - and his buttoned-up black shirt, ripped jeans and hat combo certainly attracted a lot of attention online.
His torn jeans weren't a winner with viewers:
Maybe if Lewis Hamilton wins another World Title, he can afford jeans without ripped knees

And there were lots of opinions on where the driver got the inspiration for his look from:

Did someone tell Lewis Hamilton that SPOTY was fancy dress? pic.twitter.com/CM0vhCMhtE

Hamilton lost out on taking home the top Sports Personality of the Year Award to Andy Murray, who took home the title for the second time in three years. The driver earned 48,379 votes for the title and came in 5th place, behind Murray, Kevin Sinfield, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Tyson Fury.
