Is The End In Sight For Cumberbatch's Sherlock?

Filming for season 4 has begun - and it could be the last

The BBC have confirmed that filming has begun on a new series of Sherlock, with Benedict Cumberbatch and Matin Freeman returning as the eponymous detective and his trusty sidekick Watson.

Three new episodes are said to be in the pipeline, promising "laughter, tears, shocks, surprises" and, naturally, "extraordinary cases."

The big question hanging over this series is whether it will be the final one, with show's co-creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss cryptically stating: "This is the story we've been telling from the beginning. A story about to reach its climax."

There's currently no release date for the fourth season, but expect it to be some time around 2017.
