The New Ghostbusters Trailer Has 700,000 Dislikes

The most of any film on YouTube

Rebooting a classic and beloved 80s fantasy film with an all-female class was always going to raise a few eyebrows. But in the two months since the follow-up films trailer was posted it has amassed a staggering 717,000 dislikes, and counting.

The clip is a fairly convoluted affair, leaving many die-hard Busters fans bewildered as the trailer erases the previous plot as if it never happened. Star of the film Melissa McCarthy has even admitted it is confusing, stating the film should be treated as "a re-boot not a remake."

Director Paul Feig, who gave us Bridesmaids (likely why people are worried), responded to the public reaction unsurprisingly defensively;

"Some of it is that people don't want an old property touched – I'm sympathetic to that. But the ones who are hating it because it's about women? That's just a non-starter."

The mountain of thumbs down makes the trailer the most disliked of any on YouTube and wins it a place on the website's top 20 least-liked pieces of any content. Not a hall of fame you want to hang in, particularly when you're amongst the likes of 'Gangnam Style' and 'Friday' by Rebecca Black.
