Jordan Brand may bear the namesake of His Airness, Michael Jordan, but it's also been known to collaborate with other players and pop culture figures on special editions of retro releases. Basketball star Carmelo Anthony got a shot at the Jordan 4, Chris Paul took on the 13, and Drake's OVO label did a riff on the 10. But up until now Nike and Jordan haven't incorporated anyone from the world's favorite sport: football.

But it seems like that's changing this year. According to Sole Collector, Brazilian footballer Neymar Jr.—of FC Barcelona and his country's national team—will be getting his own edition of the Jordan 5 low this fall. The move makes sense, considering Neymar's been working with Nike on products and marketing campaigns for a long time now. Oh, and there's also the fact that he's a massive international superstar.

No word yet on what kind of colours or treatments we'll be seeing, but this is a big moment for football and sportswear fans alike. Hopefully Jordan Brand and Neymar will pull out all the stops and deliver something worthy of the occasion.
