No one watches Game of Thrones to laugh. Sure, Tyrion might have a clever one-liner or a sick burn every once and a while, but that will, at most, warrant a chuckle. And even then, you'll get one light moment for every 10 beheadings, 45 stabbings, 12 poisonings, 16 dismemberments, and one entire church burning with half the world leaders in it. Remember that scene where Tyrion, Grey Worm, and Missandei sat around trying to tell jokes to each other? Yeah. That was painful.

We're used to seeing these humorless people in incredibly serious situations. We're used to seeing them in mortal danger. We're used to seeing them hold doors and get eaten by dogs and plotting murder. We're used to seeing Daenerys give passionate speeches in Dothraki.

That's why it's so weird when we watch her fuck up the language—like it doesn't even exist (gasp!). That's why it's strange to see the golden-tongued Tyrion fumble his way through saying "benevolent." That's why it's weird to see the massive Sandor Clegane unable to chop wood.

It kind of reminds you that even though we're obsessed with this show and completely invested in these characters, they're actually just regular people who want to remove the sheet covering Jon Snow's crotch.
