T2 Trainspotting is approaching and now we've got wind of a possible TV spin-off for the franchise, as confirmed by the author himself, Irvine Welsh – so you'd best choose a f**king big television if you want to properly enjoy it at home.

When asked by NME if there would be any further Trainspotting adaptations, Welsh replied: "Basically, I've plans for them all.

"All in various kind of schedules or adaptations," he added. "It's all ruling on cable TV, cable TV has some interesting developments.

"We're working on all these different kind of things."

"I think now anybody who's in the book, whether the like it or not, they're working on the way of being in the film. You keep that in mind," Welsh continued.

"As soon as you've written it, you're thinking about how it can move into different mediums."

The new movie sees all of the original core cast return, and will be loosely based on Welsh's sequel book, Porno. It will pick up the story of Begbie, Spud, Sick Boy and Renton a decade after Trainspotting left off - though 20 years have passed in real life since the first film was released.

Earlier this week, Welsh also said of T2: "In some ways, I think it's a better movie They have become such iconic characters and this is going to cement that status even more."

Trainspotting 2 will be hitting cinemas on 27 January 2017.
