J.J. Abrams is known for a lot of things: He created Lost and Alias and he directed two little known indie movies called Star Trek and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He's not known for doing improv, and he's definitely not known for his singing ability. But it turns out he used to do both—not well. The last time Abrams did either it was a long time ago at a theater far, far away. His teacher had him both sing and do improv in front of a class of about 100 people, and he was so bad, and the moment was so traumatising, that he thinks about it still.
