Dear white people about to watch the Dear White People trailer for the first time: Relax. It's just a comedy show. Yes, it addresses some sensitive issues, but Richard Pryor was talking about race in his stand-up in the '70s. Comedy should be edgy, it should push boundaries, and it should test and warp the limits of political correctness.

Of course, some white people are very offended, as they are wont to do when anyone points out to them that they do some things that are potentially offensive to others.

Look, if you're really worried about a TV show being mean to you—beyond the casual suggestion that you should NOT dress up in blackface, which is the completely not-controversial statement made in the first teaser trailer—check out creator Justin Simien's very good movie of the same name, which came out in 2014. And have an open mind. And maybe reread the definition of "satire." It's all gonna be OK!
