Ed Sheeran has brought his guitar along for the ride in James Corden's latest Carpool Karaoke.

The chart-topping singer belted out some of his most famous hits, including 'Shape of You' (while getting intimate with Corden) and 'Sing' – before his guitar took over.

Forget the stereo, because Sheeran and Corden sang along to acoustic versions of 'Thinking Out Loud' and One Direction's 'What Makes You Beautiful', with Sheeran strumming on the strings.

It wouldn't be a Carpool Karaoke with a few distractions, and the video delivered as Corden challenged Sheeran to stuff 47 Maltesers into his mouth.

The singer was more than successful, fitting in an incredible 55 before spitting them all out on the side of the road.

Elsewhere, Sheeran shared a wild anecdote – in which he hit Justin Bieber across the face with a golf club while in Tokyo.

Oh and he was drunk, of course.

"He came to this really filthy dive bar [with me]," he recalled. "We ended up at this golf course and he put a golf ball in his mouth and said, 'Go on, hit it out'.

"I was pretty hammered. I was like, 'Focus, focus, focus. You can't hit him, you can't hit him, you can't hit him'.

"I had this driving wedge, and I was like, 'OK, OK, OK', and I cracked him across the face."

Fortunately, Bieber was fine.

"He was actually really cool about it, surprisingly," Sheeran said. "He was like, 'Oh bro', and then just carried on."
