The seventh and penultimate season of Game of Thrones is almost upon us, and by the sounds of things, we can expect a "seismic shift" in the actions of reigning King of the North, Jon Snow.

Speaking to TIME, Kit Harington, who plays the half-Stark, half-Targaryen character, revealed his belief that early-series Jon Snow "wasn't interesting enough".

Fortunately, we're being promised a much more grown-up Jon in season 7.

"I made mistakes and felt that he wasn't interesting enough," Harington said.

"That sounds weird, but I've never been quite content with him. Maybe that's what makes him him. That angst."

He added: "This year there is this huge seismic shift where all of what he's learned over the years, suddenly… He's still the same Jon, but he grows up."

The comments come after the actor previously said Jon Snow is is "in mortal danger" in season 7, alongside the rest of the cast.

"I felt safe in season six because I thought it would be bad storytelling to kill me in the [same] season I'd been resurrected," he explained.

"But as for seasons beyond six, it's back to business. He's in mortal danger like anyone else."
